Autumn 2026 Iceland Global Project

A smiling group of five people taking a selfie outdoors in a snowy, tree-lined landscape. They are bundled up in winter clothing, including heavy coats, knit beanies, and glasses, with specks of snow visible on their jackets.

Although Iceland has a Christian heritage stretching back a thousand years, it remains one of the least reached countries in Western Europe. Today, there may be as few as 200 Bible-believing followers of Jesus in the whole country, out of a population of just under 400,000.

You’ll be based in Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital, joining a team of 10-12 students and Agapé staff from around Europe to help Icelandic students discover Jesus. Your time will include starting conversations about faith with students on campus and connecting with Christian students through local churches. It’s a unique opportunity to engage, learn and make a lasting impact in a place where few people have met Jesus.

We’re not looking for perfect people, so just be honest in your answers.

The application takes around 30–60 minutes to complete. If you are logged in to your Google account, your form will auto save in the same browser for up to 30 days. Once you submit your application, you will receive a copy to the e-mail address that you provide.

Please submit your application before 24 February, and you’ll hear back within a week. The earlier you apply, the better your chance of securing a spot and the more time you give yourself to fund raise.

Once accepted, pay a deposit of €200 by 9 October to reserve your spot.

All project fees need to be fully paid into Agapé UK, or your local Agapé office, by 19 October.

The cost of this year’s Iceland Global Project is €545 (approx. £480)  which includes your project fees, housing, meals and a day excursion of The Golden Circle. This does not include your flight or the shuttle to/from the airport in Reykjavík (approx €65).That might sound a bit daunting, especially if you’re a student, but raising the funds is actually a faith-building and encouraging part of the experience!

We encourage everyone to build a team of partners (friends, family, churches) who support you by praying for you and giving financially towards the cost of the project. As you develop this team, you’ll often find that God provides all the resources you need; it’s really about trusting Him and making your needs known to enough people so you can connect with those He’s calling to join you. Seeing people support you in this way can be a hugely encouraging part of the journey, and it’s a chance to involve others in what God is doing through the project.

Agapé UK will provide a helpful fundraising pack full of practical tips and biblical insight, and an Agapé staff member is available to support you in person, by phone or email. It’s best to start fundraising as soon as you receive your Acceptance Pack, which will include any specific deadlines. We require all funds to be raised before the fundraising deadline. If you raise more than you need, you can consider helping someone else on the project. If the deadline is approaching and you’re struggling, we will do our best to provide whatever encouragement or support you need to help you reach your target. Please rest assured that we handle each person’s fundraising situation individually. Just a heads-up: donations can’t be Gift Aided anymore due to government rules.
